The Reel Friends Voluntary Payroll Donation Program is an easy way to make regular donations in support of the Film and Television Relief Program. Donations are tax-deductible and will be debited from your paycheque at a percentage and for a period you specify. A tax receipt will be issued at the end of each calendar year.
The Film and Television Relief Program provides emergency financial aid to help entertainment
industry professionals working in all aspect of film and television production maintain their health, housing and ability to work after an injury, illness or economic setback.
This year hundreds of your colleagues and their families will receive assistance with rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, money for groceries and other basic living expenses during a critical period.
By joining the Reel Friends Plan you become part of a community of people who have come together to show their support for colleagues who are facing difficult situations. Payroll donations are small, so you might not even notice them week to week, but you can feel secure in knowing that your donation will have a big impact. There are over 20,000 members of the Canadian entertainment industry who are eligible to give through this program. With these kinds of numbers, even small contributions, given regularly can make a real difference to a film and television worker in a crisis situation.
Whether you sign up to give .5% or 3% you will know that, together with your community, you are working towards a better future for all members of the entertainment industry.
